Is the telescoping handle lock made of plastic? How does that fare to an open flame?

I have not used this as I bought it as a Christmas present. I t was very poorly packaged with only a couple of pieces of crumpled paper in the box so one of the knobs on top was broken and the little screw was missing. It is not sold in stores so I will fix it myself instead of trying to send it back and get another before Christmas.

Purchased these as a gift for my parents and two family members for newly built outdoor fire pits. I wasn't expecting to get a kit of popcorn along with it too, but was really happy with it! The handle was easy to put on and I walked through the directions with my parents to make sure they knew how to use it. They used it recently and told me how delicious the popcorn was and how easy it was it was to make over their fire pit.

Great popper but we have a FLAT surface Electric Range Top so had to change to an Electric Popper to keep scratches from occurring.

this popper is easy to pack due to detachable handle, light enough for children to use, easy to clean, and the popcorn adds a lot to outdoor activities. It is also much more durable than those with wire handles.

LOVE my new Open Fire Popcorn Popper. It's easy to use, easy to clean, and comes with 3 packages of popcorn with oil, ready to use. It was raining out when it came, so instead of using it over our bonfire, I tried it out in the fireplace! Works great!
