I absolutely love the shaver, it does a fine job of shaving my face. The big disappointment is the cleaning base. I had it replaced within the first year of ownership as none of the buttons on it would respond to a touch. Now, the replacement is acting up and won't respond to me pressing on the "cleaning cycle" button. It's time to see if I can get the replacement cleaning base replaced. If I can't then I will just toss it in the trash. I hope this review will dissuade others from spending the extra money for the cleaning base. Keep your money - It isn't worth it!
Well I don’t have a good word for this shaver. I bought my Philips Series 9000 - S9161 - 515174028 /A - about 5 months ago. I use it dry shave but find that it takes a very very very long time to cut all the hairs for a smooth feel. I have been trying and trying, back and forth and circular motion but it still misses patches. If I skip a day like on the week end then it takes a really long time for the shave. The shaver that I had before worked much better. It was a Philips Philishave 8894, but sadly it had gotten very old. Do all the models of 9000 series use the same cutting heads – is it possible to change the heads to improve the shave?

Better having head, charge indicator, and cleaning/ lube component. Like lock out for travel. Have been a Philishave users for many years. Gone to the higher end razor with the intention to have longer life with replacement of shaving head.

excellent shaver have had it for a few years and continues to work perfect. Highly recommend this product but you need to be a Star Wars fan!!

Using the right technique is key to making sure you’re getting the best results from your Philips shaver. Hairs do not always grow in a uniform direction and, for that reason, we recommend moving your shaver in circles while applying light pressure. This allows the blades to cut hairs growing in all different directions. Additionally, if you haven’t shaved for three days or longer, pre-trim the longer hairs with a beard trimmer to ensure a better result when using your Philips electric shaver.
