I really enjoyed using this. I have a lot of chin hair after having my last baby. And I would have to tweeze for at least 20-30 minutes. Yes I have that much hair. But this epilator has saved me time and my face. No more bumps or missed hair. It’s just effortless
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This does not hurt at all like my other epilator from the same brand. That said it also does not work well. I have gone over the same part of my leg multiple times and it is still missing hair. Worse yet, it is not plucking hair but instead breaks the hair. Guess that explains why it doesn't hurt as much. I do like that it's super lightweight and the cord is a great length. As an epilator it fails. Added a photo to show the hair it took off. Sadly it's only broken off hair not plucked.
Hello, Thank you for writing your review, your opinion is highly valued. We're glad to hear that you like the lightweight design, and long cord! We're sorry to hear, however, that you weren't satisfied with its performance. Allow us to share some tips to improve this. For your epilator to remove your hair properly, its important to hold it at the right angle. For your model, it is recommended to hold the epilator a bit tilted at a 75° angle. For more detailed usage instructions please check the user manual of your epilator model. Moreover, move the epilating head slowly over the skin while epilating, to allow the discs to catch the hair. For the best result, move the appliance against the direction of hair growth, making sure the head is in full contact with the skin. Additionally, the optimal hair length for epilating is 3 - 4 mm. If your hair is longer than that, use the trimming attachment of your epilator to shorten the length of your hair. If your epilator does not come with a trimming comb, shave your hair and then wait for 7 days for the hair to grow long enough to be epilated. Hope this helps! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had heard of epilators most of my adult life but had nee used one. When I received the Philips brand epilator I was skeptical. I had heard that the pain from using them was super painful. After following the directions i used it on my legs. I was pleasantly surprised at the results. My legs were hair free that lasted for weeks. No more shaving in the shower for me. I LOVE this product.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Had one for over 15 years, still working perfectly. But bought me a new one for mother's day, as a gift. Satinelle is dependable and goes with me everywhere!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this product because I don’t have time to go to the salons, I can use this in the privacy in my own home. It works ok. Seems more like an electric razor then anything. But gets the job done. Nice product

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a very affordable epilator. That in itself is a 'pro' when it comes to evaluating or reviewing this device...but sometimes the value of a thing has a lot more to do with features than price. That's certainly the case here, at least in my opinion. Beyond the price, this product has some good features, to be sure. It is compact and easy to hold and use, with two different speeds for different hair textures, and it is very efficient at removing the hair it comes into contact with. It allows me to go days, even more than a week, without shaving or having to use this epilator again. I love anything that gives me more time for LIFE! It's also nice that it has such a long cord, so I can use it more conveniently in most areas of my home. It's simple to care for, too--just detach the head and rinse under water for quick cleaning. Now...unfortunately, there are some 'cons' here, as well. First, this epilator is LOUD. I have another epilator by a different brand, and while it's not exactly quiet, the Philips Satinelle is much louder. That might not sound like a big deal, but it does contribute to the overall unpleasantness of using it. And although it does have a good, long cord, I really wish it didn't have a cord at all. It means I can't use this device on the go, or wherever, whenever I need or want to do. And, of course, the biggest con of all: IT HURTS!! That one's not fair, perhaps, because all epilators hurt, but this one has a smaller head than my regular epilator, and I think it has fewer tweezers to pull out hairs. That means I have to go over the same areas over and over to get full coverage and complete hair removal. More time epilating equals more pain, and it just takes much more time, too. And although this product is safe and effective for virtually all body parts, I don't use it on my underarms or other sensitive areas. I just can't handle that pain! But I have learned a few important tricks over the years to successfully using an epilator. First, NEVER use this right before a Big Event!! This is not the device for you if you're planning to use it the morning of your wedding, or the night before a photo shoot or some important social occasion. You should expect your legs to have red, angry bumps for at least a few hours, maybe even up to a day. You can reduce ingrown hairs by making sure you exfoliate before using an epilator. Also, you need to start with hair that is as long as possible, as it makes it easier for the tweezers to grab the hairs and pull them out by the root. To handle the pain, I always take an ibuprofen about an hour before using an epilator. You can also try icing a small area at a time before using this device. I haven't tried a numbing spray myself, but I've heard others do. Ultimately, while I do like an epilator for long-lasting hair removal, this Philips Satinelle isn't my first choice. It's a good value if you're tougher or more impervious to pain than I am, but for most people, I would recommend spending more money on a device with a bigger head and more tweezers that is rechargeable for greater portability. But if your budget is too tight or you're just too impatient to save up for something with a higher spec, this isn't a bad choice. It's just not the best one.

Hi, Thank you for writing your review, your feedback is always appreciated. We're glad to hear that you found this epilator effective and compact! We are sorry to hear, however, that you found it too loud and sometimes too painful. About the noise, be assured that this is normal behavior and is nothing to worry about. The noise is caused by the opening and closing of the epilating discs. Also the materials used to make the epilating discs is very hard for durability, which also makes the product a bit noisy. As for the irritation you experience with your epilator, allow us to share some tips for this: - Allow your skin some adjustment time. Try epilating before going to bed so that your skin has time to rest overnight. - Avoid over-doing an area. Do not repeatedly epilate the same area in one go. - After wet-use pat your skin dry instead of rubbing it. - As after-care gently apply an alcohol free aloe vera creme or lotion. You may also use an after-sun creme as these have cooling properties. For your armpits, its ok to use an alcohol-free deodorant. - We advise you to epilate on a clean skin. Take a shower before epilating. Make sure your skin in completely dry or completely wet when epilating. - Always check the head of your epilator to make sure it is clean before you use it. If it is not clean, then put it under a tap of running water to clean it. If this doesn't improve your experience, please reach out to us on Social Media. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This was my first time using an epilator and I see the appeal. The faster speed worked better for my legs. It was indeed painful, but the second time I went back to do it a second time and it hurt a little less, and every time after that much less so. I guess it's similar to doing your eyebrows. My lower legs it did a great job of removing all the hair -- but my thighs it was less effective as the hair is much finer. The hair itself isn't that noticeable anyway because of how fine it is so that it missed some isn't a problem for me. Armpits are very painful to do. Bikini line not too bad but some areas hurt more than others. It's easy to hold and is relatively fast to do and ends up with a nice smooth finish that lasts much longer than shaving. Do it on Friday and you're good for the weekend and a few days into the week.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This does what it says it will do. Removes the hairs at the root. Yep...it hurts a little but it's not unbearable. It is a little loud and I am not really a fan of the cord but those are minor. All in all, I think for myself, shaving is faster but it's always fun to try something new.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've been using the Philips Satinelle Essential Corded compact epilator for just shy of a month now. With my first use on my legs I was amazed that anyone willing does this, but within a minute I adjusted and wasn't bothered by it anymore ( like tweezing your eyebrows). Once I finished with both legs I looked at them under the light and seen that it missed the fine hairs, I assumed that was on me being my first time. Unfortunately I didn't have luck with getting those to date, so I'm making the assumption it isn't me any longer but the epilator itself. Minus the fine hairs left behind my legs have stayed hairless much longer then with a traditional razor. Within the first five minutes of finishing my legs I felt like I had razor burn with a ton of red bumps, it lasted maybe a half hour then faded away. I have noticed alot of dry bumps on my thighs since using thus. I have also used this on my arms, and it is much more sensitive. I got razor burn shortly after on my arms as well that lasted about a half hour. The epilator is very easy to hold and use with an easy to operate switch. It also came with a sensitive area cap and brush to clean it with.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have personally never used an epilator before. This is my first time owning one. It was very easy to set up and use. I followed the instructions to exfoliate and ensure the hair on my legs was long enough. This epilator has two speed settings. I found the first setting to be too slow for legs, so I used the fastest setting. It is pretty uncomfortable to use initially. I did eventually get used to it. My legs are how smooth, and it took me less than 5 minutes. It’s easy to clean and compact to store away. It definitely beats knicks, bumps, razor burn.
