SHARP, best for thin slicing

This little gadget works great on really firm, thin slices like potatoes, cukes, and squash. Does not slice thick enough for tomatoes or soft things. To me, it's worth it for the potatoes. Watch out - no one is lying about the sharpness! I, too, lost part of a finger. USE THE GUARD! It kind of magically aligns itself with the frame when you get close to the end of your veggie. Good product without taking up a lot of space, and lightweight enough to hold it over a pan or bowl, or you can rest it on it's edge.

This slicer works great and the blade is very sharp, but the little black button to adjust the blade up and down rubs against the attachment when sliding it along the blade causing little black shavings of plastic in my food. I'm taking this back. I thought I could be doing something wrong, but there is only one way to use this utensil.

I am an OXO customer and I usually buy every kitchen product they have. This product slices great, but unfortunately, it has a design flaw. No matter how you use it, eventually, the attachment to hold the food will rub against the black adjustment rubber and will leave microplastics in the food. I requested OXO to send me a replacement and they did, but the second one also has the same issue. So, we are between not using the device, or not using the food holder which will be very dangerous.
