I purchased this large serving bowl and the matching platter. This bowl will hold a family-sized serving of pasta, stew or side dish. It's very sturdy and goes well with my dishes.

I like these bowls for dishes like pasta and clams. The bottom is flat so it is almost like having a plate with high sides. Have used them as individual bowls for hearty fish and shelfish stew. Drawbacks: they are unusually heavy so hard to handle. Also, they do not stack evenly so it is hard to get a bowl away from the ones below it.

We use these bowls for pasta nights and entree salad nights. They are big enough for room to enjoy your food. I also use them other nights as bread bowls.
