Having used this for a while now, I highly recommend this intelligent robot vacuum and here is why: We heard a lot of great things about Neato Robotics and after comparing all the robot vacuum cleaners out there, the D8 made a lot of sense to us. We had an older model from a different brand and man I wish I had made the switch much earlier than this! Some of the big things that drew me to it was: The D-Shape which allows for a larger brush so the vacuum can get more done in less time. Another thing was the LIDAR navigation, we have a toddler and an infant so it's important for us to be able to setup zones so we really wanted a vacuum with it and this one had just that. The battery life and ability to auto-charge, this may not sound like a big deal but if you are gone all day or are busy outside and just want the vacuum to really clean the house, it helps a LOT. Different cleaning modes - Working from home, this is important to me as I can have the vacuum clean while am working on the ECO Mode (almost whisper quiet) and have it run on turbo mode when we aren't here which comparing it to our old robot, it's that loud anyways. As for the app, it's VERY responsive and easy to use, we got the vacuum setup in literally no time at all, it was almost shocking how quick and easy the setup was. Having two little ones, this thing is a must and again, my only regret is not having gotten it sooner, do yourself a favor and grab one too!
I purchased this vacuum with high hopes. It was a brand new release and I’ve heard great things about the previous models from Neato. But after running the vacuum on the first try I was experiencing errors of all different kinds. Each time I was making excuses, maybe the vacuum didn’t like this type of floor, or there was too much hair on my wooden floor, etc. After a couple days of usage, I left it alone for a weekend and then on Monday wanted to start another cycle, the vacuum wouldn’t run. It gave me a brand new error about it not finding maps. I troubleshooted the vacuum with the help support for 45 minutes but even customer support couldn’t identify the problem. The vacuum never started again. I gave it a fair shot and really wanted to like it but in the end I returned it.

No issues with the cleaning aspect. Vaccums well. The app and operating software for the robot needs a lot of work. Rarely returns to base for recharge and when it does return to base, it doesn't resume where it left off. I have yet to get a complete cleaning of the house with on start.

Not as good as its predecessor. I still have a D4 that performs better than the new vacuum. My new vacuum can't find its base, gets stuck in places my old vacuum never did. It also has a hard time finding all the rooms to clean, and again, old Neato didn't have these problems. It is new enough that I am considering sending it back.

The older robot has flawless navigation and battery, after years of use. D8 will ignore no go zones (and get stuck), will require recharge mid run, won't clean everywhere. It is a shame. Seeing both cleaning side by side, D8 is completely dumb. I have contacted support, there is no solution for a poorly developed product. My mom wanted a vacuum robot, we gave her a Roomba. If you go online, you will find the same complaint from several users, poor navigation compared to older models. Stay away unless you need a robot to clean a room with no furniture.

the vacuum cleaner regularly bumps into something and then doesn't go anywhere. only after a hard reset do the sensors respond again. neato says it is working on a better app. unfortunately there has not been an update of the app in 1.5 months and I see the number of complaints about this rising. all in all it's just a mediocre device. the d7 was significantly better and rarely gets stuck on anything. I have 2 d8 and they both have the same problem. and I have 4x d7 and there are hardly any problems with that.
