First it was the Ring (horrible) then the Eufy (horrible) and now the Google Nest (wonderful). It's easy to installed. It catches the whole picture not just the person walking away like the Eufy and has superior video quality unlike the RIng. If you.live in a busy area or have frequent traffic the battery does not last very long but it's very easy to remove and charges quickly. The only downside is if you are like me and don't like frequent notifications on your phone you need to purchase the Google Nest Hub in order to hear the doorbell when rung.

The quality is great, the image is great and the installation is very straightforward! I wish the battery would last longer, but it gives you enough of a heads up to do it while you're home.

I have hundreds of pieces of smart home tech all centered around Google assistant and our various Google homes throughout our house. When our old Ring doorbell died, I was very excited to preorder and get the new Google Nest Doorbell Battery edition as soon as it came out. It was super easy to install and setup. It looked fantastic and we always got comments about how good it looked. After two months though, the problems started. Eventually, the retractable part that holds the doorbell to the base (so that you can remove it to charge it) stopped retracting. Luckily, Google Support was right on it and I got a new one in a few days. The new one was just as easy to get setup. Unfortunately, in another month, I received the dreaded "Your doorbell is offline due to a battery issue. Please contact Google Support." I contacted Google Support and they helped me out right away. I received the replacement in a few days and it was easy as can be to setup like before. This time, I received the "Your doorbell has a battery issue" message in 7 days... I called Google Support this time and they were not so helpful anymore. They drug things out for weeks and ultimately they said that there is nothing they can do because I am out of the support window. This unit clearly has quality control issues. I am at a loss now. 5 months later and all the money spent - I have nothing to show for it. Never have been as disappointed with a smart home product as I have been with this one.

I love being able to see and talk to my customers when I am in the back and the only one here, it keeps prospective new customers from walking away without being able to speak to some one.

I have tried two other name brand wireless doorbells and neither compare to the Nest. The picture is crisp. It catches everything you need a doorbell picture to do. My only regret is that it does not come with a hub.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I don't have experience with smart doorbells but this is pretty neat. Instructions are super easy, you get a link to watch a video for step to step instructions. It comes with the whole setup to install on a wall. A metal plate has a 30-degree angle for better view. Mounting wasn't easy for me as I have a brick house that needed to be attached. It took me about 30 minutes to find the right tool to attach the metal plate. Love the clear view it's provided and turned automatically in night mode by itself ( see attached picture). It's doesn't actually ring a bell but sends me and my husband notifications on our phone. I can talk to people at the door and they can talk to me. All the cars and people coming in my driveway. Mind you we have many deers hanging out in our yard especially at night. So far not been a single notification of deers moving in my front yard from our smart doorbell which is pretty neat. It saves the recording and you can watch who came and what package is outside. It's doesn't seem to save more than a day worth of recording unless I am missing something. So far I am happy with the ring.

After some research I decided to get a Google Nest Doorbell (Battery) which uses a charging cable for the built-in rechargeable Li-Ion battery. This means there is no hassle wiring the doorbell. Along with the Nest Doorbell it comes with a charge cable, base plate, 20” wedge, wedge screws, spacers, release tool, wall screws and anchors, and wire connector. The wire connector is for those who have existing wiring to connect to the existing doorbell chime. In order to use the doorbell you must have a Google Account, Google Home App, WiFi Network, and a mobile device. Of course, it works with Hey Google. I can even go into the video history to watch something I missed. There were a few selling points that impressed me. First, this product uses 45% recycled plastic parts. Second, if someone removes my doorbell illegally Google Nest will replace it for free. Lastly, Google Nest provides exceptional security and privacy for my family.
