Bonjour® 8-Cup Maximus French Press in Blue

Purchased for my brother and his fiancé as a wedding shower gift and it broke after 2 uses. Not impressed.

Not happy with this French press due to its clumsy design. The top, stem, discs, and screen are tricky to put together and the stem will not stand up because the top piece is heavily-weighted and tips over and most unhandily and rolls off the counter if you don't watch it. Most pots have just three pieces to thread on to the stem. This design includes a fourth, and I don't need extra work, sorry, but I'll go back to the pot for now and hope to get a refund on this new-fangled problem pot.

I'd say I'm your average coffee drinker. I have my coffee maker at home, used to own a Keurig (switched to the coffee maker last year, much happier), and I drink coffee consistently 1-2 times per day. After testing one of the BonJour French Presses, I decided to purchase this one for two reasons: 1. It's incredibly easy to use, and easy to clean. (I had never used a French Press prior to trying the other one from BonJour - very easy and intuitive!) 2. The gorgeous pruple-fushia color really adds that extra pop that makes this stand out wherever you place it. This size is perfect for me, as well. It also retains heat for quite a while, much longer than I expected, so if you just want to have a cup of coffee now, and then another (or two) later, you can do it. And I keep mine at my desk, which makes it even more convenient.

I've been using French Presses for a long time. I bought an all metal/glass French one years ago, but can no longer find glass beakers which fit properly. This BonJour press has minimal plastic, beaker fits nice and tight (so it won't fall out when washing - tip: never take it out of the frame to reduce likelihood of breaking). Best of all, it has a rotating closure on the stainer system, which works great to mostly stop the brewing. One (big) criticism: the mesh filter part is ill fitting and hangs up at the bottom, so it does not press completely flat, grinds get stuck in it and it probably partially defeats the closure function. Oh well, Quality Control is a lost art. Good enough for the price. It approaches "very good", not excellent. It's holding up well after a few weeks of light use.

This is my first time ever using or owning a french press & I absolutely love it. I have done tea, coffee, & hot chocolate in it several times & all come out awesome.

If you never had ground coffee in a french press it's time to try it. Freshly ground beans placed in this pot makes fantastic coffee. This item is pretty well built and worth the end results of your coffee.
