This is our third Black & Decker toaster oven. The first two lasted for lots of years, but like all toaster ovens, one element finally died. We decided to try this unit again. I read lots of reviews before purchasing and for the most part, I agree with most of them. Here goes: The good news is, the knobs are easy to turn; the bad news is...easy EXCEPT the timer/toast knob. It's easy to turn to the right, but then you have to turn it back to the left to set how dark you want your toast. Really tough to turn. Seniors beware. The good news is it toasts pretty fast; the bad news is it can be easy to over toast and turn the slice of bread to a charred brick. It takes practice. The good news is the door opens easily and has a great handle; the bad news is when you open the door, the toast rack doesn't slide out like the previous model did. Now you have to reach in and retrieve the toast and risk a burn or use a potholder to grab the rack and pull it out. With the previous two we had, when you opened the door a hook grabbed the rack and slid it out a bit so you could grab your toast and not char your hand. The good news is it comes with a baking tray. The bad news is it's small. There's room to have made it bigger. The good news is it has a crumb tray. The bad news is there's no way to remove it without dumping some of the crumbs back onto the floor of the toaster. No way. Maybe three stars is an over-rated review. But for the price and the quality of things these days (or lack thereof) I guess it's not bad. At least it hasn't caught fire!
