Story Behind the Art:
- This rug is made by village weavers in the Bhadohi village, Varanasi province of India. It is a unique piece of world art that showcases the skill and craftsmanship of the local weavers. Due to the handmade nature of the rug, the size may vary up to 3-4 inches from the advertised size. The majority of the weavers are women who live in the villages of Afghanistan, Pakistan, and India. By purchasing this rug, you are helping to create more jobs for female weavers who otherwise would not have the opportunity to do so. The community also benefits from rug weaving as the local farmers benefit from wool sales, and the local artisans create natural and vegetable dyes for the weavers to use in their designs.
