Story Behind the Art:
- The design for this rug was re-created by village weavers in Afghanistan, who use traditional techniques to clean, wash, and dye the wool. The use of vegetable dyes, such as madder, walnut peel, pomegranate peel, and sparak, gives the rug its unique color palette. This rug is made of 100% wool and is handcrafted, which means that the size may vary up to 3-4 inches. The majority of the weavers are women who live in villages across Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, and Iran. By purchasing this rug, you are supporting these female artisans and the local farmers who provide the wool for their craft.
